Six precepts I would like to teach my dog.
When I grow older
I would like to teach my dog how to sit, stay, attack, protect, find, follow,
and bring. I choose these six tasks because I find them the most useful to my
liking. I would teach my dog these tricks in no real order just as long as the
dog follows the task to the end.
The reason I
would teach my dog sit, is because it is the most traditionally seen trick to
make your dog do in front of people. It is a trick that has been passed down by
generations to impress anyone who comes over for a visit. It also shows that
your dog is far superior to other dogs in intellect, being able to sit on
command and shows that you are the alpha male.
Another trick
would be to stay. For that time when people are coming over and you need the
dog to stay put and stop barking. Those times where you need the dog to stay
put while you entertain your guests.
My favorite trick
would be to have the dog attack any intruder that so happens to set foot in my
yard. Keep in mind that this will be a big dog and very hard to fend off once
he starts his command of attack. He would be able to take down a full grown man
without having to think twice.
Protect would be
a command I would give my dog to follow around my child as they walk down the
street to ensure they get to where they are safely. This command will take a long
time to develop. Because not only does the dog need to understand but have the
motivation to protect who ever or whatever the dog is protecting.
I think being
able to find something is one of the coolest tricks ever, being able to tell your
dog to go find the remote or maybe your child and within a few moments your dog
will be barking for you to come to there the thing you were looking for is.
Follow, much like
protect, is where the dog will obediently follow you wherever you go and
occasionally point you in the right direction of where you needed to go. This
is a trick that People would use for when you are hunting for wild game.
Lastly would be
bring/ fetch. This trick I would use in coordination with find, because I would
command “find and fetch …..” and the dog will obediently find the object and
bring it to me. This is a trick that I would favor vastly if I ever need to
find the remote, or need to find my child.
The reason I
wanted these six tricks is because they are the basic functions of a human
being, to be idle, and still, to be violent or loving, curious and inquisitive,
and as well as useful. Well some of the basic functions, because of course I
won’t be able to teach a dog to talk because their voice boxes aren’t cut out
for the unnatural sounds we humans make to talk with different tones and
accents.
